I squashed a caterpillar today. A barbaric act that I cannot seem to shake out of my head. A necessary action whether out of fear or disgust at it being in the vicinity… if anything it was more scared of me than I was of it. But that’s just life isn’t it?…Big hurts small and the world goes on like nothing’s happened. A few years ago, a friend asked me whether I believed in determinism or free will. Do we really have a say in how we choose to exist?
Can you believe it? A caterpillar has pushed me to think about the complexities of existence…maybe that was it’s purpose…a duty far beyond that which it could comprehend. Its’ fate and purpose woven into the threads of time. That to me, is religion, the art of existence itself.
Look at life, how it moves. The world an endless mirror of the soul that resides within. The infinite qualities of others reflected within ourselves. Love is the religion we all seek, yet we starve the world of it, we hoard all the love within us and thus the universe balances the scales by blinding us to the love around. We are creator and creation itself. There is beauty in everything, all is perfection. Do you see it now, anger, joy, relief, pain, hurt…love… these interpretations of the events of life are a testament of existence. You are here. You vibrate across the sands of time. You are everything and everything is you.
I’ve spent every waking moment trying to find the meaning of it all. Is it accomplishment, is it joy, is it pain. What is it…so that I may know how to navigate this complex confusing puzzle of being. I find no answer in anything. Yet I find the same answer in everything. It’s nothing. There is no meaning, there is no end goal, there is only transitioning between now and the next place, to the next aspect of existence. As a collective we construct the narratives that we must abide by. Subconsciously or consciously, we reinforce these narratives. The purpose of existence is not to follow the rules or be the best, it is to follow your soul to your very hearts content. It is to serve the highest good by following the flow of universal love. This way, we reach contentment, enlightenment and most importantly, this way, we make a world filled with infinite love. Heaven on earth.
